Now where do I actually start with this one?
Internet Marketers and Social Networking depending on whose voicing an opinion will not usually get great reviews. Yet we know that a lot of Internet Marketers are building a healthy income online today, also social networking via the Web 2.0 sites is gaining momentum and allowing a lot of marketers build relationships that would have been impossible to achieve only a couple of years ago.
Personally I believe in both and think that this is a great way to be financially independent, free and a fun way to meet people all over the world. Yes there are some weird ones out there, but with a little bit of common sense and caution these few can be kept at bay.
I've noticed that Internet Marketers have during the last couple of months exploded on the Facebook hemisphere and started leveraging the traffic in a great way to build their businesses. How?
1. By becoming friends with like minded people or people interested in their niche.
2. By starting groups and offering services to their core niche , and its working.
Now its important that you don't just run off and join Facebook just this moment and then start a group just to get in on the action... well you can if you want too, but I'm sure it won't work that well if you don't know what you are doing.
What do I mean by this?
Well to start with you should have a fair grounding on how to network socially online, if you do this right then the sky is the limit.
When you join a social networking site it is important to become part of the community, participate and watch how its members interact with each other, your goal is to build relationships with people, relationships that will last, ones where trust and respect is built up over time.
For example when you are requesting for someone to be a friend of yours or contact don't just click the "Add Friend" button, use the message box provided to tell the member a little bit about yourself and why you are requesting for their friendship. Remember first impressions count. It's more time consuming but it will become very invaluable and rewarding in the long run.
So these are a few Social Networking Sites of Note:
Facebook: This site has had incredible growth in the last few years, it has over 80 million users, and according to "ComScore" is the second most trafficked social media site and the 6th most trafficked site worldwide. People love Facebook, it is a useful tool to keep in contact with family, friend and business associates, a family member I had lost contact with found me on Facebook yesterday! And I've noticed that Internet Marketers are beginning to harness the power of Facebook to build relationships and traffic to their sites. (more about this later). If you are a Marketer and you are yet to get a
Facebook Profile then head on there now and sign up.
Twitter: Twitter is a cool tool used on the internet to follow friends. They update their profiles as often as they care to and their friends follow by reading about what they are doing. This is a very viral way of spreading news and information on the internet at no cost to you whatsoever.
Yuwie: A Social networking site with a difference, as this one earns you money as you get hits to your site and friends visit your page. Yuwie allows you to advertise and promote your internet marketing products and services amongst other things via blogs, groups and buying ad spaces on the site. You do this for free on Facebook and MySpace so why not get paid for your time on Yuwie, its not much but it all add up in the end.
DirectMatches: This is a social networking site primarily for business people, that is not to say that other social networking needs are not met, but business is a prime focus. This is a place where business owners, mlm, home based businesses, affiliate marketers, online business owners etc can make contact and advertise their products and services without spamming. There are numerous ways that this site allows you to promote your business, via a profile, building a contact list, blogs, uploading videos, forums, networks, classified advertising, pixel ads, and press releases. This is just a great place to get a push for your products and services.
MySpace: If you want to hangout with friends and have fun then MySpace is a good place to be. Mostly this site was used originally by teens and young adults to keep in contact with each other. The site has moved on now and quite a lot of older adults now have profiles on MySpace. Because of the relentless hoards of traffic that visit this site daily you will find that it is a silent money spinning machine if you know what you are doing. Have you got a niche? Search and find a group on MySpace that is interested in your niche, and viola you are in money!
So there you have it, just a few
social networking sites that Internet Marketers can use to their advantage. Obviously there are loads more and as time goes by we shall be visiting a number of these sites.
